Introducing Vincent Van Gogh
Vincent Van Gogh (1853–1890) was a Dutch post-impressionist painter who is among the most famous and influential figures in the history of Western art. Despite struggling with mental illness and poverty, Van Gogh produced over 2,100 artworks, including about 860 oil paintings, in just over a decade. His work is characterized by bold, dramatic brush strokes, vibrant colors, and expressive emotion. Some of his most iconic paintings include Starry Night, Sunflowers, and The Bedroom. Though he only sold a few paintings during his lifetime, Van Gogh's work gained immense recognition after his death, and today he is celebrated for his contributions to modern art. His life was tragically cut short at the age of 37 when he died from a gunshot wound, believed to be self-inflicted.
