Introducing Lisa Scottoline

Lisa Scottoline, born on July 1, 1955, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, is a distinguished American author renowned for her legal thrillers. She grew up in the suburb of Bala Cynwyd and demonstrated academic excellence from an early age. Scottoline graduated magna cum laude from the University of Pennsylvania in 1976 with a Bachelor of Arts in English, focusing on the contemporary American novel. She had the privilege of studying under notable professors such as National Book Award winner Philip Roth. She furthered her education by earning a Juris Doctor cum laude from the University of Pennsylvania Law School in 1981, where she served as an Associate Editor for the University of Pennsylvania Law Review.

Scottoline clerked for state appellate judges in Pennsylvania and later practiced as a litigator at a Philadelphia law firm.
After the birth of her daughter, she left the firm and began writing. Her second novel, "Final Appeal," received the Edgar Award for excellence in crime fiction.
